Do’s and Don’ts – Resumes
- Sell yourself on the resume. Even if you don’t have that much experience, make yourself sound like an
asset to the company! - Include a Cover Letter.
- Use bullet points instead of large paragraphs.
- Include any special awards or accomplishments you have achieved.
- Spell-check, spell-check, spell-check. Grammar and Punctuation are key.
- Tailor your resume to the position you are interested in.
- Use “lazy” terms or abbreviations, such as “etc.”
- Have a resume with a multitude of fonts, colors and styles. Keep it clean and simple!
- Forget to put dates for when things occurred.
- Explain why you left your last job.
- Expect your resume to do all the work for you. After all it is just a piece of paper. Getting the job comes from you, yourself and your interview.
